My research into the TMP™ revealed an emphasis on simplicity, along with a fact-based and common-sense approach that really resonated with me.

  • How did you decide to become TMP™ certified?

    I am always seeking professional development opportunities through reading, experiences, and certifications (they complement each other). After considering various certifications, I took a closer look at the TMP™, largely due to my admiration for "One Page Talent Management," especially the value-complexity curve. My research into the TMP™ revealed a similar emphasis on simplicity, along with a fact-based and common-sense approach that really resonated with me.

  • What were the most interesting aspects of your TMP™ learning journey?

    How much I enjoyed the reading! While I read some parts carefully and skimmed others, I plan to keep the book for future reference. The chapters on leadership development and high potentials are absolute gold mines!

  • Please share some insights into your approach to preparing for the TMP™ exam.

    I read the book... and read from the book. I listened to a few audiobooks and subscribed to some talent-focused newsletters. It is a lot. I do not recommend reading the book cover to cover and trying to memorize everything- there is a deeper level of understanding that is more helpful and doesn't require that.

  • What guidance would you offer to young professionals who are starting their TMP™ certification journey?

    Talent management should be an enterprise-wide effort, not just limited to a centralized team or individual. Understanding the company’s history, current state, goals, and objectives is crucial for effectively engaging with others. This approach helps socialize and promote talent practices while aligning them with the company's priorities, transforming it into a talent-driven entity rather than just one that has a Talent Management Center of Excellence (CoE). I found this shift in thinking throughout the reading and learning for the TMP™ certification, and it was immensely clarifying.

  • How do you see TMP™ helping you grow in your HR career?

    Time will tell. I suspect it will immediately become evident in my day-to-day activities as a more integrated approach to various talent practices, along with an increased effort to make talent management a firm-wide practice.

  • How will you describe your TMP™ certification journey in one word?

    Straightforward
